Installation Notes
This installation was completed in January of 2022. The owners of this travel trailer were recommended to me via a Grand Design Facebook forum. I met with them to look over their trailer and talk with them about their needs. Based on the information I obtained, I came up with a system design and estimate. They accepted my proposal. There was a bit of a delay getting the Hightec solar panels shipped due to production delays. Once the panels were finally available, weather prevented the customers from getting their RV to me for several weeks also. We were finally able to coordinate an installation date and the work began in earnest. The installation took four days to complete. Everything went well with the installation. The customer did decide to change from flat mount solar panel brackets to tilt mount brackets at the last minute. Luckily I was able to get them and install them within the estimated installation window. This travel trailer is a 30 amp unit so the inverter is installed in line ahead of the main power panel. The inverter is capable of powering all circuits in the trailer. I added a Micro Air Easy Start (which the customer already had and provided) to the OEM Air Conditioner to allow the inverter to power it with no issues on start up. I also installed a dome style satellite dish the customer provided as part of the installation process. The system includes a Cerbo GX which allows control and monitoring of the components from anywhere via the internet and Victron’s VRM portal.
